Sales Policy

If you are interested in purchasing a kid from one of our breedings, please contact us at julie@thelohmans.net. We maintain a free interest list.

Our goal is to find wonderful homes for our goats and for you to be happy with your goat purchase. We do everything we can to produce healthy, high quality goats for pets, breeding stock, and show animals. We want owners to be successful as well!  We gladly mentor anyone who buys from us.

We reserve the right to retain any kid resulting from any of our breedings.  We prioritize the health and safety of our goats, and therefore we reserve the right to refuse a sale at any point.

Goats are herd animals and need to be with other goats. If this is your first goat purchase, you must purchase more than one.  Goats transition better going into their new herd and home when they are not alone. We recommend beginning with 3 goats.  That way if anything were to happen to one you won’t be rushing to find a same age goat that will be accepted by your remaining goat. We will not sell a single goat to a home that does not already have goats.  If you are purchasing a wether (castrated male) as a companion for a doe you are currently purchasing from us, the wether will be offered at a reduced price.

By purchasing goats from us, you agree to the following:

1.  Deposit: A deposit of 25% of the agreed upon sales price is needed to reserve your goat(s). The deposit is applied to the final amount due at pick up.

2.  Payment: We prefer cash but can accept PayPal or Venmo. If you choose to use PayPal or Venmo, please add 4% to your payment in order to cover the transaction fee. If you do not want to pay the extra 4%, you have the option to use “friends and family” and there will be no service fee.

3.  Pickup: Animals must be picked up by the agreed-upon date. We will try to accommodate a later pickup if we can.  If animals are not picked up within seven (7) days of the agreed-upon date and other arrangements have not been made, the animal(s) will be offered to the next interested party and you will forfeit the deposit.  That money will go toward caring for the kid(s) while we find another buyer.

4.  Transportation:  Transportation is the buyer’s responsibility. Please consider your transportation needs before purchasing an animal. Unless other arrangements have been made, most kids will be ready to leave at about 3-4 weeks old on bottles.  Buyers are responsible for any vet exams, health certificates, shipping costs, and crates, etc.

5.  Refunds: All sales are final. A refund will be provided if an animal becomes seriously ill or dies prior to the pick-up date. All animals will be healthy upon leaving our property to the best of our knowledge. We cannot guarantee the health of our animals after they leave our farm, but we will be available to support you in caring for them through the transition.  Height of your animal cannot be guaranteed.  We reserve the right to cancel any sale for any reason.  If we choose to cancel a sale, we will refund ALL money paid.

6.  Disbudding: We disbud for the safety of the goats and handlers. If you would like your kids horned, full payment must be made prior to 5 days old.  We do everything in our power to prevent scurs (little horn nubs), but we cannot guarantee the kids will not have any as dwarf goats are particularly hard to disbud as they are so little. If they do have scurs, they are small and do not present any problems.

7.  CD&T Vaccination:  Our does are provided CD&T vaccination around 30 days prior to kidding.  This allows immunity to pass to the kids for a period of time.  If the kids are still in our care when their boosters are due (6 weeks and 12 weeks), we will provide those at our expense.

8.  Registration: Once paid in full, we will, at our expense, tattoo and register your goat with the American Dairy Goat Association and transfer the registration to you.  We will gladly let you select a name if you choose.  All goats will leave with a health record as well. Wethers will not be tattooed or registered.

9.  Bucklings:  Intact bucks will be tattooed and registered.  DNA testing (required to be on file for registered bucks for future progeny), is the buyer’s responsibility. Wethers can be castrated at 10-12 weeks old and we can perform that service here at no additional charge or you can make other arrangements at your own expense.

10. Vet: We recommend that you establish a relationship with a large animal vet before you pick up your goats. Not all vets who treat horses and cattle will treat goats. It may take a while to find the right vet.

11. Right of First Refusal: If in the future, you find circumstances have changed and you can no longer care for any animals purchased from us, or they no longer fit into your breeding plans, please allow us the right of first refusal before selling or giving them to others.

You are welcome to use any of our pictures from this website to promote an animal from our herd. Please be sure to note that the picture is “courtesy of Creekside Hollow Homestead.” If using another breeder’s photo to promote that animal, please be sure to give them credit as well.
